Braga Sokaraja Hotel Parking Attendant Shot Dead by Visitors

The hotel parking attendant was shot dead by one of the visitors. Banyumas Police investigated and pursued the perpetrator.

A member of the Banyumas City Police Resort showed an overturned chair in the parking lot after a parking attendant was shot at the Braga Hotel in Sokaraja, Banyumas, Central Java, on Saturday (27/4/2024).

PURWOKERTO, KOMPAS — The Banyumas City Police Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the shooting case by one of the visitors of Fajar Subekti (38), a parking attendant at the Braga Hotel, who died. The police examined a number of witnesses and put up a police line at the back exit of the hotel parking lot.

"It is true that a man was shot at around 03.45 WIB, in the parking lot of the Braga Hotel, Sokaraja," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit Banyumas Police Commissioner Andryansyah Rithas Hasibuan in Purwokerto, Saturday (27/4/2024).

Hasibuan said that his party had processed the crime scene, examined a number of witnesses, and pursued the shooter.

"The victim, according to one witness, was a parking attendant at the hotel. Based on initial information, the suspect is believed to be one of the visitors to the entertainment venue in the hotel," he said.

Asked about the type of weapon the perpetrator used to shoot the victim, Hasibuan said that his party was still investigating it.

"We are currently investigating the type of weapon. The victim has been taken to Margono Hospital for an autopsy. (The victim was shot) around the chest," said Hasibuan.

Hasibuan added that there were six witnesses who have been asked for statements. "From the initial statements, there was one gunshot, but it is not ruled out that there were more. We will provide further information based on the statements from the witnesses," he said.

Aziz (37), one of the security officers at Hotel Braga, stated that he did not know the detailed chronology of the incident as he had just arrived for his shift this morning. "The victim is a parking attendant. He has only been working here for a week," he said.

Budi (32), the victim's younger brother, has asked the police to thoroughly investigate this case. His elder brother is already married and has two children. "I request that the perpetrator be fully investigated, including where the gun came from," he said.
